Before now, you’d happily sit at home eating your dinner that had been thrown together and equally thrown on to your plate, because as long as it tastes good, who cares and who has the time to make it look ‘pretty’? The only time you would get a well presented plate was when you were eating in a fancy restaurant.
Oh how times have changed. Since the introduction of Instagram into our lives and the subsequent taking over of our lives, people have been snapping photos of their meals, showing off how good they look.
Again, this used to just be in a restaurant, but now with people sharing more, including their home-cooked meals, so they need to make sure they look ‘on-point’.
Over the last few years, there has been various foodie trends, from avocado on toast with cracked black pepper sprinkled perfectly on top to the most neatly arranged Sunday roasts you’ll ever see, people love a good food pic. Well now, there is a new food trend racking up the likes on Instagram: The Avocado Rose.
You have to admit, it does look pretty, possibly even to good to eat?
It also looks like it would be quite difficult to make, but in actual fact, it’s really quite simple. You just need a slightly under-ripe avocado and a sharp knife. Check out the video below to find out exactly how to perfect the art.
While it may seem a little silly to make flowers out of your food, it would be particularly good when serving food to guests for that added wow factor, or simply because it would look impressive on your Instagram feed.
It’s not just avocado that people are turning into floral displays either, you can use courgettes, carrots, tomatoes, etc, basically, what ever can be sliced thinly could possibly be made into a rose.
