Skittles Have Lost Their Rainbow Colours

Last weekend, the annual gay pride festival known as London Pride took place which celebrates the LGBT community.

Attracting thousands of visitors every year and founded in 1972,  it is the longest running pride in the country and is the only parade to close London’s iconic Oxford Street.

Thousands of people came together to show their support for this event this year and Wrigley’s Skittles wasn’t about to miss out on the chance to jump on the band wagon.

The sweet company gave up its well known rainbow colours for the weekend because “only one rainbow deserves to be the centre of attention.”

Posting a video on their YouTube page, Skittles addressed the “rainbow coloured elephant in the room’ and removed their rainbow colours for the weekend to ensure that the London Pride rainbow was the only one getting attention – the attention that it deserves.

“So this is kinda awkward, but we’re just gonna go ahead and address the rainbow-coloured elephant in the room. You have the rainbow … we have the rainbow … and usually that’s just hunky-dory. But this Pride, only one rainbow deserves to be the centre of attention – yours. And we’re not going to be the ones to steal your rainbow thunder, no siree. That’s why this weekend, we’re giving up our rainbow. But don’t worry, we’ll still be there to celebrate every colourful minute with you, we’ll just be completely starkers while we do it.

Have a great day, Pride.

From Skittles.”
