There is no denying that more and more people are becoming vegetarian and vegan, with approximately 12% of the UK’s population now adopting the lifestyles.
One chain restaurant that has noticed this trend is Pret. While they have for a long time been pretty good at offering tasty lunch time meals for veggies and vegans, they’ve now taken it one step further and opened up a veggie pop-up shop.
Located in Soho, London, they have turned the Broadwick Street branch into a vegetarians paradise. Sadly, only for a month, however there are iPads and comment boxes in the pop-up store so that customers can leave their feedback. Pret then plan to roll out the most popular items across their branches nationwide wide.
So, meat-lovers you’re not going to have to give up your usual lunch and veggies and vegans will possibly be getting a bigger and better selection. Winners all round!
There are old favourites and newbies alike.
While they have still included classic egg mayo, falafel flatbread and cheddar and pickle, they have also added several new sandwich/wraps/baguettes. Avocado and chickpea chipotle chickpea wrap, veggie New Yorkers on rye bread and artichoke, tapenade and olive baguette are just some of the new items on the menu.
Fresh and healthy smoothies.
Choose your flavour, take it to the counter and they’ll blend it up into a smoothie for you.
And if smoothies aren’t your thing, why not try coconut water or Kombucha?
Kombucha, if you haven’t heard of it before, is a fermented green tea that has loads of great health benefits.
There are some indulgent treats for people to try as well, such as a vegan chocolate coconut bar and the cocoa and orange pot, both of which we expect to taste heavenly.
There is also courgetti, salad pots and cauliflower rice for you to pick from.
Poet’s veggie pop up is open throughout June and is located at 35 Broadwick Street, W1F 0DH.
