After a good workout at the gym, you need something to replenish some of those calories you’ve burned, something to fill you up and something full of protein to help repair your muscles.
Shakes can end up getting pretty boring and shop bought protein bites can be fairly expensive – so the price of having one after every gym session seriously adds up.
However, there is no need to forgo you protein fix, nor to spend a lot of money on them. Protein bites are incredibly simple and affordable to make at home. What’s even better is, when making them yourself, you can easily tailor them to suit your taste preferences.
- 2/3 cup of smooth peanut butter
- 1 cup of oats (plus extra for rolling)
- 1½ maple syrup
- 1/4 cup of dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup of flaxseeds
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and let the mixture chill for 30 minutes.
Roll into small, evenly sized balls.
Spread the extra oats out on a flat surface and roll the balls in the mixture.
Store in the fridge until ready to be eaten.
It’s honestly that simple!
