When it comes to losing weight there are so many diets in the world claiming to be ‘the best’, that it can all get very confusing.
However, a group of Harvard researchers have finally put an end to this minefield and told us what diet will really help us get bikini body ready.
According to these brainiacs the secret to success is that you should be cutting carbs, not fat.
For the study, published in PLoS One, academics from Harvard reviewed 53 randomised trials of over 68,000 patients who had been assigned to either low-fat or low-carb diets.
What they found was that low-carb diets were consistently better at helping patients lose weight compared to low-fat diets.
Therefore, if you are eager to drop a dress size ditch the bread and amazingly, keep hold of the cheese.
While cutting down on carbs can be tricky – we can categorically say that it is the fatty foods in life that everyone finds harder to let go of.
We aren’t saying that this is an excuse to binge on a whole block of brie however, if you cut down your carb intake and opt for a diet rich in healthy fats, lean proteins, and fresh produce you should see yourself losing weight in no time.
Another recent study showed that dieters who ate fewer than 40 grams of carbohydrates per day lost about eight pounds more than dieters who were put on a low-fat diet. So, it seems that this theory has definitely got some serious substance behind it.
Basically, forget everything you have read so far and trust the voice of Harvard’s finest nutritionalists who state that the key to staying slim is ditching those crafty carbs.
